Greetings everyone my name is Jesse and I LOVE halo. From that sentence you’ve probably already figured out why they call me Jalo and yes you would be correct.
I was kind of deprived from video games as a kid but it still couldn’t stop me from being obsessed with them. I was fortunate enough to start out with the Sega mega drive (genesis if you’re American) but I didn’t get another console until the original Xbox came out. I managed to fill the void between consoles by going over to friends houses after school and playing late into the night during the weekends. It was probably during this time I developed my competitive drive to be the best at any game I played and show my mates who was king.
Due to the wonders of technology and fast internet, Xbox live came into existence and a whole new world of competitive opponents became available to conquer. This was also when I discovered my first love Halo. My love for Halo eventually drove me to compete in a local Halo 3 tournament in the capital city of Perth where I won my first e-sports title and it felt great. Unfortunately since then I haven’t found the time to compete again.
I am excited to see where the games industry is taking e-sports and I hope it manages to take off in a big way. With developers like blizzard who are really getting involved with Starcraft 2 tournaments, especially those like the GSL in South Korea, it will be interesting to see how other developers react. I think the culture that surrounds e-sports in South Korea is amazing and would love to experience it for myself one day. MLG is currently the western world’s biggest e-sport league and is quickly becoming just as big as those in South Korea.
Through the podcast I hope to introduce you to the more competitive side of gaming but at the same time let you experience the joy that is owning noobs and just having fun with mates.
See you online
- Jalo
